Vita's Vertigo

Climbing Vita Sackville-West's tower reminds me of Hitcock's film Vertigo.
It is my favorite thing to do at Sissinghurst. It is as if she never left.

  1. A good place to awaken memories. I visited over 20 years ago. Time to go back.

  3. Just don't look down unless you've got something to hang onto, Michael!

  4. Faisal,
They have a rope on the center pole and the stair rail. I bit tricky when passing people, though.

  5. Ahhhh, yes! I recall that climb up. I love her little study in the tower. Very charming. Doesn't look very crowded the day you visited?? We arrived early at Sissinghurst as we knew it would be crowded. Beautiful photos! Loi

    1. The study is wonderful isn't it? I think I read that her children were permitted up to study only a handful of times. It was pretty busy before lunch, but it cleared out about 3:30 when these photos were taken. Thanks, it was great fun putting the photos together.
