Thanks, James. I am still trying to decide if we should consider longer grass to buffer the structure. We tried it briefly this year but I had trouble explaining what I wanted to the lawn mowing crew. In the snow, I think I prefer nothing in front of the granite. As the crabapples get larger and occupy more space, the scale of lawn up to the structure works better to my eye. Any thoughts now that you have seen Stonehenge?
Well, there's not much of anything around Stonehenge. It's almost clear to the horizon, but you have that woodland, which creates an entirely different effect. I think I'd go with longer grass in the warm season, at least until the crabapples are significantly larger. In the photo and snow, I get no sense of scale, though that may not be the same in reality.
Beautiful. Now that I've finally seen Stonehenge, I like it even more.
