Chanticleer takes full advantage of every inch of soil for gardening, including the parking lot. The plant list in the parking lot rivals any public garden in the world. Even as you get out of your car, the tone is set for a special experience. Why can't every parking lot follow suit?
Such a great idea! I love it. Why don't we see this more? Can you imagine how lovely shopping mall lots would be? They can use drought tolerant plants, if watering is an issue.

Also, I really like the hardscaping: stone walls and granite (?) edgers.
ReplyDeleteYes, Loi, I think it is granite curbing and cobblestones creating the lines in the parking lot. I'm not sure about irrigation. Mostly it looks like droughty tolerant plants.
DeleteOnce I saw the title, I knew the parking lot. I always linger there when I visit Chanticleer.
ReplyDeleteYes, James, it is a garden in itself. I remember one year I was looking for Korean pine 'Morris Blue' on the grounds and it was located in the parking lot.
DeleteA parking lot surrounded with nature and its beauty. That’s truly admirable. It would be quite an experience when you get to spend some time in that parking lot and enjoy the scenic, fresh view. For one, it’s an ideal getaway from the busy and hysterical street life.
ReplyDeleteHi Filippa,
DeleteIt is amazing the difference it makes. On a hot summer day, it cools the asphalt considerably. Changes like these could keep the earth just a little cooler so I believe it has environmental, as well as aesthetic, benefits. Thanks for your comment.
nice your blog
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite parking spots ever. I have been twice and hope to go back again, and again.
ReplyDeleteLes, the first time I saw the parking lot, I was pleasantly surprised. After I understood what Chanticleer was about, it made perfect sense.
